“When I look at trees I see the leaves go a certain direction. Before, it didn’t matter. If I look at a tree long enough I see birds.

My name is Elaine H. I’ve been here since the beginning. My favorite part about being an artist is having the chance to work with different mediums, being with my friends, and having a job at L.A. GOAL. I like to watch basketball on TV, I like pizza from Shakey’s with pineapple on it, and from Costco all veggie. I like talking to myself in Hungarian because I don’t have anybody else to talk with in Hungarian. I love working with children with different strengths. I love playing with my cat, I love her with all my heart. I feel like she’s my daughter. Also I love Hungarian food. I would love to go to Israel and stay at a Kibbutz. Also I love music because it is incredible, you don’t need to know the words. I like working with different things in ceramics, working with clay, feeling the clay in my hands. In sewing I like embroidery. I like drawing houses and nature. My advice is to do onto others as you want them to treat you. Try your best, I feel that’s the most you can ask for."

Elaine’s Artwork

The Beginning
Watercolor on Paper
11” x 14”
$125

I have to get to a place of strength and take back my life. I am going back to what I need because I am strong enough to do it. I will not give up on me because I am important, and I matter, and my art is a part of me, and that feels good.

Vulnerability
Mixed media, Watercolor and colored pencils
11” x 14”
$125

Opening up can be very difficult and scary. Exposing yourself and your fear causes worry and the feelings of judgment and exclusion from living life. I want to be able to walk again, I don’t know where my feet are? This is not me, I want to be able to feel them again. I want my old life back, my friends, my art, and L.A. GOAL. I want to be normal and to go places, feel free to move around and see the people I care about, because it’s important to me and who I know I am on the inside.

All Around, the Color Green is Comforting, by Elaine H and Kris L
