The name Inside Out Productions was chosen primarily because the process of creating art provides an opportunity to express - to both one’s self and the outside world - all which is unique and authentic inside a person. It was also chosen because “Outsider Art” is typically used to describe artists who start off without formal training or association with the mainstream art market, and who often come from isolated populations. ![]() Since 1995, Inside Out Productions, a subsidiary of L.A. GOAL, has offered paid employment to people with developmental disabilities. Inside Out Productions, a commercial Art/Sewing Studio, currently employs 21 part-time artists. Working with a team of professional artists, they receive training in drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and sewing. In their busy Culver City, California studio, they design and produce fine art, one-of-a-kind hand painted objects, papier-mâché figures, woodblock prints and textile art. Through their annual Art Show at the Jan Baum Gallery in Los Angeles, three exhibitions at the Skirball Cultural Museum and numerous other special exhibitions, the public has become aware of these talented artists. Their work is now part of many private art collections across the country, demonstrating that these developmentally disabled artists can successfully compete in the mainstream market. Your purchase supports their continued employment.
